End of the school year.

As the school year ends, summer approaches and there is great anticipation about getting out of school. As soon as  June approaches, students in school feel the urge to enjoy summer. Most students have to endure taking specific regents during regents week in June.

At the NYC iSchool the trimester ends very soon, which means there will officially be no more days of classes. Once the trimester ends, regents week is up and ends in late June. Many students are very excited about the end of the school year.
Daniela, a freshman stated, “I’m so excited about the school year finally ending.”

Even though there are a few days left in the trimester, students need to remain focused and engaged in order to do well in classes. We are all still receiving homework in math classes, getting test, and doing regents review. Still having work to do at this point in the year is unfortunate for many students who are awaiting summer vacation.

Most people are reflecting on their academics during the school year. Report cards are sent out on the last day, June 27th. For students who are interesting in a future involving college, every grade on their report card is important.

While students are focused on summer, others are still worried about specific classes.

Mei, another student said, “I’m mainly worried about U.S. history seminar because it is not my best subject and the class requires a lot of work.”

One other important thing many people are doing is studying for the regents. Many students are taking regents whether it’s one or three, so doing a lot of studying for the regents is a smart idea if you want to pass.

Despite all of the stress of the upcoming regents and the ending trimester everyone is excited for summer vacation. Lots of students have different plans for their summer vacation that includes traveling, jobs, internships, camp and more. In certain cases though, if a student does not pass the regents they will have to attend summer school.
Angelica, a freshman explained, “I want to pass all the regents I’m taking so I can just enjoy my summer before I move.”

Overall, as the school year starts to come to an end and regents week approaches many students are either happy or stressed out. The beneficial part of the regents week is that not everybody has to attend every day. Once school is out students will enjoy their summer vacation because another school year will slowly be approaching.
