The people of New York City have been using the subway system to get to and from their destinations for many years. Aside from being convenient, it is also cheap. Its cost effectiveness and the fact that there is often a station within a couple of blocks of wherever you were made it even better.
The MTA, who run NYC’s public transportation system, even provide free fare cards to students who need it; some of whom think that the subway systems are the best thing to ever happen. Over time, the subway systems have experienced many delays, setbacks, and instances of very slow service.
Elijah Font, an iSchool student noted, “I try never to be late to school, I leave early, so luckily even if I experience a delayed train or a slow one, I can make it on time. However, the amount I have seen are troubling.”
For students, school attendance is very important. Some plan their morning trip to school according to the latest possible that they could leave their home. A late train would truly hurt.
Students being late because of a train delay due to the fact that they left as late as possible is of course not a fault of the MTA, but is treated as such by the students.
Due to most cases being the shortcoming of the student, the MTA gets needless hate and disrespect, even though their services are offered for free to some students.
Students must start to plan to leave their homes as soon as possible as opposed to as late as possible. Then there would not even be the slightest chance of them being late.
The MTA, has had few shortcomings in their services, with their increase of fee price, and their removal of most station agents around the city.
Alek Jablon, an iSchool student said “I am almost never late to school, when I am, its my fault. The MTA do their job well.”
The MTA have been improving their service greatly. They in fact deserve a commendation for the help they have given the city. Everyone uses the subway systems.
